I get really, really annoyed when I go to the barn, hoping to ride my ungrateful nag and school the other ungrateful nag on the longe, only to find that they have very emphatically rolled in the mud.  They do it to irritate me, I tell ya!  In my next life I get goldfish.

In my bid to get fit and lose 70 pounds I'm looking for some music recommendations to put on my iPod for the aerobic phase of my fitness program.  I spend upwards of an hour on my Schwinn AirDyne, and I need some new music to keep me going.  Bear in mind that I'm 51, have not listened to the radio except for NPR for 20 years, and cannot stand Rap or Hip-Hop or whatever it is called these days.  Anybody have any suggestions?

I was highly amused yesterday.  I had two airmen come through my check-out line at lunch.  The first was an Airman Tristan, and about five minutes later Airman Siegfried came through with his lunch.  Made my day.

I'm seriously thinking about going to farrier school once were back stateside in a couple of years.  That way, I'll always be able to get the farrier when one of the lads throws a shoe.  The school I've decided on is near Sacramento, and is highly regarded.  I just hope my back can stand  it!

Two glasses of Riesling and I'm toast!  What is it, white first, then red?  Maybe I ought to toddle upstairs and get a glass of red!

Happy New Year to all those on my f-list whom I've met in real life, and Happy New Year to all those on my f-list whom I hope to meet in future, which would be the rest of you!   You all know who you are!

I have to work early on New Year's day, so this is my little New Year's celebration, a day early.  Now, where's the bottle of  Bordeaux I opened earlier?

Happy Birthday to the Bagginses!

It's a lovely last day of Summer here in Deutschland.  Temps in the low 70's and plenty of sun.  I had my first riding lesson in almost two years, and my first ever on Woody.  Oy, my spleen!  Still, I was quite chuffed to be riding The Woodster in a formal lesson, as all we've done is trail riding since we moved to our current stables.  Homework for the week:  trot-canter transitions, with an emphasis on forwards movement.  He tends to bounce at the canter rather than stride out.  Oy, my muscles!

Not a lot happening in my life except work and the horses.  And Hans, when he's home, which he is not right now.  I've been re-reading Harry Potter since Deathly Hallows  and am having a great time with it.  OK, so I never grew up, but then I'm of the opinion that there's a lot more to those books than many might think.  I think  Gorbag said it in a post:  Rowling isn't a great writer technically, but she's a great storyteller.

Off to soak in a hot bath!

I'm toying with the idea of popping across the Channel for a long weekend in mid-November to celebrate my 50th birthday.  Any possibility of a London meet-up for an evening with the usual suspects?

I haven't given it a lot of thought yet, but I'd like to go to Portsmouth to see HMS Victory  and the Maritime Museum as well.

Just thinking here ...

Happy Birthday, Bilbo and Frodo!  Love those Baggins Boys!  :)

Had an odd dream the other night, odd in that I don't even fancy him.  I was in a classroom, college or something, and Viggo Mortensen was the lecturer.  He kept touching and fondling my hands, very softly and gently, and he kept eye contact with me only.  Hmmmm.

Went shopping at our local Kaufland, a grocery/discount store here in Germany.  The cashier who checked me out was Frau Blucher.  Made me smile all the way home.

Just saw that Peter Jackson has optioned the Temeraire books.  This could be really good.  Thank you, [info]suspect_terrain for your recommendation!  They were a great read.  Temeraire is the coolest dragon ever.

In other news, hubby is putting out some job feelers.  Nothing definite, or close to definite, or even remotely definite, but we could be leaving Deutschland earlier than planned.  I'm of two minds about it.  I'll keep y'all posted.

Had yet another bizarre dream this morning.  I was in London, on a bus, and rode past Mark Hamill's house.  Next to his house was a shop where [info]pearlette worked.  Mark Hamill got on the bus, as well as pearlette and Orlando Bloom (dressed in modern clothing, alas).  pearlette sat next to me, and the other two sat across from me.  I was ogling them discreetly and politely, but pearlette started spouting gibberish as to how she was so miserable in her job, blah, blah.   ( sorry dearie, but it was just a dream :) )  That unnerved the other two and they got off at the next stop.  I was most put out with pearl as I wanted to ogle longer, but I comforted her as best I could.   I then made my way home.
